If you haven’t heard, the super talented Megan Nielsen recently launched an iPhone and iPad app that bridges the gap between technology and sewing by providing instructions, size charts, supplies, fabric requirements and finished garment measurements for 9 of her patterns. Users can toggle between pattern variations, add their own notes, view photos of other people who have made a pattern and receive push notifications when new patterns are released. Additionally, each user has an account that syncs between many devices. So you can be a sewing geek wherever you go! Super cool.
Our community – the sewing community – can be old school and antiquated. An example is the many sewers who still use Featherweights, myself included. I like that about us, but I don’t want to hang onto the past in every aspect. I believe Megan has done a fantastic job at pushing our industry forward in a good way. Thank you Megan!
Download it now for free on iTunes. Yes, for free!
I also have to thank Megan one more time for asking me to do the photography for the app. It was so great being a part of the project, even if it was only in a small way.
(App will be available on Google Play soon)
