Y’all, I had so much fun with Mimi G. earlier this month filming a video tutorial for the Madalynne x Simplicity 8228 that when she asked me to come back to LA in June to teach at her annual conference, I said yes, yes and yes! No details needed – I’ll be there. When I had more time to look into the conference on the plane ride home, whoa, was I glad I said yes. I’m joining some pretty fabulous people for an amazing weekend of sewing, fashion, business workshops, fabric shopping and more. Registration is now open below is the who, what, where, and when. Hopefully, I’ll be seeing you in a couple months!
Deb Kreiling: Simplicity Creative Group, Design Development Director. Deb will be teaching how to make the perfect pair of pants, including fit, adjustments, how to adjust for specific body issues and so much more. (For all levels)
Kenneth King: Fashion Designer, Author, and Professor. Kenneth is filled with so much knowledge on all thing couture. He will be teaching for the intermediate and advanced attendees on ways to elevate your sewing. (Intermediate / Advanced)
Madalynne Flanigan (That’s me!): Ahem… you can refer to me as Chief Panty Girl! I’ll be teaching an awesome class – A Guide to Lingerie Fabrics – which will include takeaways, swatch books/cards and more. (For all levels)
Kelly Horton: Seamstress/DIY and Fashion Blogger. Kelly has been an integral part of Mimi G. Style and has been an instructor the last two years. She is back again this year to share her knowledge on making modifications to commercial patterns for any figure. (Beginners)
Joy MacDonell: Craft Industry Expert. Joy Macdonell is a leader in the craft industry, a national crafting spokesperson, Creative Content Director, and Creative Entrepreneur. Joy was a HUGE hit last year and is coming back to teach again. Joy will be putting together an awesome course for all newbies to sewing and will be posting exact details on this course soon. (Beginners)
Mimi G: Editor in Chief, Owner of Sew It Academy. Mimi will be teaching how to add design details to basic slopers, commercial patterns and more. Learning to take a commercial pattern and create new collars, pocket details, and more is key to expanding your design knowledge and sewing skill. (For all levels)
The fashion show has become the most anticipated evening of the conference. It is a chance to enter a creation you have learned to make using a Mimi G. Style pattern or tutorial for a chance to win a prize. Mimi G. will be emailing attendees information on how to participate.
The fabric shopping tour is a definite highlight. LA Fashion District has a 13 block radius of fabric, trims, notions and more. Mimi G. charters buses and basically takes over the district.
AIRBNB is a great option and Mimi G. has a post HERE on 10 Ways To Save For The Conference. The conference is held at the JW Marriott Los Angeles Live in Downtown Los Angeles. Many attendees book and share a room with another attendee or friend. Please note that a special room rate will be made available soon and Mimi G. will email the link to registered attendees.
