My sewing-related photography started when I was gifted a box of vintage sewing notions. I was enamored with the retro, beautiful package design. Instead of using the buttons, ribbons, trims and such, I photographed each as a way to document and preserve their beauty. It was also a way for me to create artwork that encouraged and inspired both sewers and non sewers, which is what I hope my book, Portrait of a Seamstress, will do. Since that first post on Instagram – #thewaysewingusedtobe – it has evolved into something more personal and passionate.
Late last year, I opened a shop on Society6 with a select number of sewing-related prints, cell phone cases and t-shirts. Society6 is a great, on demand printer, but in my opinion, it’s not the right location for my sewing-related photography. So, I’ve switched to Etsy! I found an on demand printer in Georgia who will ship both domestically and internationally just like Society6.
As a thank you for supporting my little endeavor, I’m offering 2 prints of any size to one Madalynne reader. To enter, either “heart” my shop on Etsy or “like” Madalynne on Facebook. After, leave a comment below stating your contact information and method of entry. A winner will be chosen on Monday, April 6, when he or she will be notified and featured on this blog. Last, contest is open internationally. Good luck!
