What I Made: Emma

What I Made: Emma

lace bodysuitA bra and underwear combo in one, the bodysuit is my heat reserve once summer’s humidity leaves and the blistering cold barrels in. A onesie underneath an outfit makes a big difference, warmth-wise, IMHO. Even when I wear a chunky sweater and jeans, a cold breeze always sneaks in. Always. That doesn’t happen if I’m wearing a bodysuit. I’ve been loving the recent trend of tying tees and sweater to one side – like this – so I decided to give it a whirl with a Madalynne spin, making an 8435 bodysuit (pattern here and kit here) and layering it underneath a RTW oversized waffle knit fromUrban Outfitters.

FABRIC + TRIMS
all fabric + trims came from my 8435 kit  (except for picot elastic, which I used in place of clear elastic)
-Self fabric: Creme knit
-Center front placket: Creme knit stabalized with fusible knit interfacing
-3/8″ picot elastic at leg openings
-Dritz Snap attacher kit (for center front placket)
-Twill tape (for crotch opening)
-Cotton jersey (for crotch opening)
-Dritz sew on snaps (for crotch opening)

CONSTRUCTION
The construction was exactly per the instructions. For those of you who aren’t so good at following written instructions, I have two FULL (and FREE!) tutorial tutorials on how to sew the center front placket and how to sew the snap crotch opening.
