What I Made: Amari

Fabric, Trims, Pattern and Construction
A testament of how easy this project was, there was only one fabric/trim. A burnt orange Lycra I swooped up from Spandex House back in December. Seriously, they have the best and most expansive selection of stretch fabric. Even ones with donuts and ice cream cones on it. Because why not?
How did I make the pattern? Easy. I took apart this Abercrombie bodysuit, traced around all 4 pieces, not making one adjustment except for extending the length of the flared sleeves as well as slashing and opening to create, well, more flare.
What about construction? Entirely sewn on my Coverlock 4.0 except for the crotch opening. Booyah!
Comments
Pun intended, it doesn’t take much to add the right amount of flare to a basic. Looking ahead, I’m all about the flares. Chokers and pom poms too.
If you’re in a need of a quickie, I highly suggest buying a cheapo garment, rubbing off the pattern, and sewing yourself something. Treat yo’self!

I may have a weakness for burnt orange… I did even get married in it… but you look fabulous, Maddy!!! All the heart eyes!

Just a question, how practical are the bodysuits you make for everyday life ? Do they get much wear ?
maddie
Absolutely! I get lots of wear out of bodysuits. I pair them with skirts and high waisted jeans mostly, but also wear underneath dresses as a layering piece.
