I met Alisa Kahn, a local Philly lifestyle blogger, when I wasn’t wearing my lingerie hat. Some of you may know, some of you may not, but before Madalynne Intimates was my full time gig, I was the photographer, graphic designer, blogger for URBN, which encompasses the brands Anthropologie, Urban Outfitters, Free People, BHLDN and terrain, and handled all internal communication and PR for all brands. When I first left, I was a freelance photographer while I got Madalynne up and running. I don’t take on photo gigs anymore, but had a prior commitment. It was Super Bowl Sunday and I was snapping at a non-football related event at Nicol Floral Design. Alisa attended with some other Philly bloggers . A few photographs in and Alisa and I were chatting it up. A super sweet girl, I wanted to work with her in some capacity in the near future.
Alisa doesn’t sew, but loved the styles she saw online. So, she decided to do a custom bra fitting and piece. She met me at the studio a few weeks ago. First thing – measure. The thing with lingerie is, there is no standardization of sizing between brands, so it was best to know her measurements from the get-go. Alisa is a large cup, small ribcage type of gal. A quick look at her and I could tell – she’s busty, but has a small ribcage. She then tried on different styles – first the Barrett bralette, then Tabitha underwire bralette, pairing both with Noelle undies. She likes high-waisted. While she was trying on the styles, we talked through her daily routine – where she works, what she normally wears, etc. – because all of this could effect the lingerie she chooses. Alisa loved the Barrett, but was very surprised by the Tabitha. She wasn’t sure if the ruffle at the bottom was her style. It looked very girly on the hanger to her. When she tried on the black Swiss dot, however, she lit up. In this fabric, it was sexy but still every day.
Alisa decided to purchase the white Swiss dot Barrett with the floral bottom band and the matching white Swiss dot undie. Because she’s a blogger, she was up for a quick, fun photo shoot showing off some Madalynne goodies. Even though she considers herself a “blogger”, she is an every day, incredibly nice gal. I choose to partner with these type of women when photographing Madalynne Intimates because when I think of the Madalynne woman – that is it. Fun, feminine, and everyday.
Thank you Alisa for being so leasant to work with as well as being so supportive or a small, albeit growing, Philly biz.
