Madalynne X Nicky Pasterfield Collection Sewing Guide

Madalynne X Nicky Pasterfield Collection Sewing Guide

This blog post is meant to be a guide to sewing DIY kits from the collection. Many times, when you make your Madalynne DIY kit, the product listing has been removed because it sold out, or it has been a long time. If the DIY kit is a variation of the original pattern, you may not remember what the variation was or how to do it. Don’t panic. This blog post will briefly outline how each kit is made and any variations. If you still have questions after reading this blog post, don’t hesitate to email hello@madalynne.com. I will do my best to help you understand how each kit was intended to be made.

This is proof that support doesn’t have to come with strings attached ;)

The new Symmes Strapless Bra by @cashmerette made its debut in the June collection. If you’ve been searching for a strapless bra that offers true, gravity-defying support, this is the one. It’s as stunning as it is supportive. And yes—there is a matching panty kit, too, using the Tonika and the Noelle panty patterns. There were no alterations to the making of the Symmes pattern.

The star of this collection, IMHO – the Rey underwire bra from Madalynne’s book, Sew Lingerie! One of the best parts about this DIY kit is one, the addition of the chain detail in several places, and two, its versatility. There are so many ways to sew it, and we made a few versions for the product images. I quickly walked through the construction and how to add the chain the in video below. In previous sewing guides, I broke down exactly which fabrics were used and where—but since this DIY includes several variations, listing them all could get a bit overwhelming. Instead, I’ll focus on highlighting just the addition of the chains.

Chic, breezy, and beginner-friendly, the Olivet dress + blouse style is a beginner-friendly sewing project that has simple construction and easy-to-follow steps. It is available in sizes XS-5X with a full sew along on Madalynne’s YouTube channel. Whether you’re new to sewing or an experienced maker looking for a quick me-made project, it’s a satisfying and stylish choice with exaggerated puff sleeves, a deep V-neckline in the front and back, and a gathered skirt. There were no alterations to the sewing of these sample.

I love the Brooklyn Bralette and Barker Panty from Sew Lingerie. It’s cute and everyday. The DIY kits for this style follow with the instructions outlined in the book, with one variation: the panty. In the book, the leg openings and waistline are finished with picot elastic, but the kit for this collection uses fold over elastic for the leg openings and wide band elastic for the waist. To achieve these finishes, you can apply the sewing techniques described for the Brooklyn pattern to the Barker.
