My New Pattern with Simplicity: 8624 High Neck Underwire Bra and Bikini Undie

My New Pattern with Simplicity: 8624 High Neck Underwire Bra and Bikini Undie

lingerie patternsUp until this point, all my sewing patterns with Simplicity have been basic styles. The 8228 features two soft bralettes that are perfect for sewists wanting to get into the world of lingerie, but don’t want to dive head first into stretch fabrics, elastics, hooks + eyes and rings + sliders. The 8229 and 8436 are underwire styles, but still basic. With 3 pattern pieces, the 8436 is the simplest an underwire can be. My other 2 Simplicity patterns, the 8435 bodysuit and the 8437 strapless bra, are still pretty easy. My newest pattern with Simplicity, the 8624, which released just this weekend, is a much more complicated. It’s my most complicated and you know what? I was more excited for this pattern than any of my other patterns as well as some styles I have in the works for you later this year. Below, I’ll get into all the details, including the kits I’ll be selling, and the the sew along I’ll be hosting, but first…

When Simplicity approached me to create two lingerie patterns a few years ago, I was taken aback. I remember sitting inside Jo-Ann Fabrics looking through pattern catalogs when I first began sewing. I was around 18 years old then and I never would have thought that 12 years later, I would be in one of those catalogs. Thank you to the entire Simplicity team for making this lingerista’s dreams come true.

PATTERN DETAILS
The 8624 is a high neck underwire bra with foam cups and keyhole front opening. It features adjustable shoulder straps and hook and eye closure at center back. The undie is a low-rise cheeky bikini style with the back intended to have scalloped lace edges.

I know, I know. Trying to source all the fiddly bits for lingerie is a pain in the butt. Yes, I am trying to sell you my kits, but seriously, I’m saving you time and money. You’ll spend $3.00 on a hook and eye, and then spend $5.95 on shipping. Considering that this style has a lot of fabric and trims, you could easily end up with a bra that costs you $85 dollars or more. Just 1 yard of polylaminate foam is around $10.

That’s why I’m offering a kit for the 8624 where you’ll receive everything you need to make the 8624 bra except the underwire, which can be purchased here. All fabrics and trims will be delivered in an exclusive Madalynne Intimates box that features a pull out drawer, which adds a nice, “intimate” touch.

Depending on what size you make, you could also make the 8624 undie, but the kit was intended for just the bra.

I’m really excited about this pattern! I strongly prefer pdf patterns but I can’t figure out how to buy it from Simplicity – is it actually available in PDF? Thanks very much!
