The Bianca is a pocketed wireless bra (bralette) with a front closure that is a supportive and comfortable style for anybody going through a mastectomy. With a hook and eye closure in the front, the Bianca makes putting the bralette on and off hassle-free. It also features:
- Enclosed seams to prevent irritation.
- Pockets to hold drains (optional).
- Racerback with adjustable shoulder straps.
- Opening on bra cups to easily insert modesty pads, prostheses, or lightweight breast forms.
The collaboration between AnaOno and Madalynne Intimates is deeply personal and stemmed from a longstanding connection between founders Dana Donofree and Maddie Kulig. The two first met when Maddie interviewed Dana for a blog series, and the connection was immediate. Having lost her mother to breast cancer as a teenager, Maddie was instantly drawn to Dana’s story and her mission. Dana, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in her late 20s, not only overcame the disease but transformed her experience into a lifelong commitment to supporting survivors through thoughtfully designed lingerie and loungewear.
Over the next decade, Maddie and Dana stayed in touch, supporting each other’s work from afar. When Maddie made the decision to undergo a prophylactic double mastectomy, the idea to collaborate felt both natural and meaningful. Together, they brought their shared experiences full circle by transforming one of AnaOno’s most beloved mastectomy bra styles into a home sewing pattern. The result is a design that empowers individuals to create their own supportive, comfortable garments—whether for themselves during recovery or as a heartfelt gift for someone navigating breast surgery.

FORMAT:
Available in A4, A0, projector and letter. PDF pattern features selectable layers that gives the option of choosing which size(s) to print.
SUPPLIES:
Main Fabric (1/4 yard): Lycra, cotton jersey
Combo Fabric (1/4 yard): Stretch mesh
Lining Fabric (1/4 yard): Stretch mesh or power net
*Pattern was designed to be made with fabrics that have 8-20% spandex
Fold Over Elastic (4-5 yards): ⅜” and/or ¾” wide
Shoulder Strap Elastic (1 yard): ½”, ¾”, or 1″ wide
Rings + Sliders: 3 rings, 2 sliders
Width should match the width of the shoulder strap elastic
Hook + Eye: 4x3 or 3×3
ADDITIONAL SUPPLIES:
Required: Sewing machine with straight and zigzag stitch, polyester thread, microtex or stretch needle (size depends on fabric).
Optional: 28mm rotary cutter, Odif’s 505 spray adhesive
