Never sewn lingerie before but want to dive into the world of DIY intimates? Over the course of two sessions, learn the fundamentals of bra making that will set you up to move onto more intricate and complicated bra making projects.
COURSE OUTLINE
Session 1:
1. Types of lingerie trims, fabrics and linings
2. How to use your fabrics and trims to fit a wide range of sizes
3. Finding your size
4. Underwire bra versus bralette
5. Full bust versus plus size lingerie
6. Favorite bra making tools
7. Direction of greatest stretch (DOGS)
8. Cutting out your pattern
9. Pattern adjustments
Session 2:
1. Sewing the Barrett bralette, a size-inclusive style available in sizes XS-3XL, from start to finish. The Barrett bralette is a pull on bralette that has adjustable shoulder straps, a triangle cut out at center front and an elastic band at the bottom. This style was chosen because it will expose you to stretch fabrics, elastic and trims.
