Recap: Bodysuit Workshop with Madalynne

Recap: Bodysuit Workshop with Madalynne

diy bodysuitI describe bodysuits in 3 words – one piece wonders. They work in all colors (white to bright orange), fabrics (rib knit to mesh) and styling (sexy to casual). Every season, I think that they’ll go back into fashion purgatory like they did after their dominance in the 1990s, but on the catwalks of fall ’16, bodysuits lived on. New prints and designs as well as reinventions of classic bodies and colors.

Last Saturday, I was super excited to host my first bodysuit workshop. It was the fullest class since scaling down with 9 students who packed into Madalynne Studios for the last workshop before moving to a new space (more pictures and deets on that to come!). It was a full house, but students didn’t seem to mind being in close quarters with each other. Since this was my first go at a bodysuit class, I wasn’t sure how much time was needed, and I assumed that having more students than normal would equate to slower sewing overall. So, prior to the class, everyone’s bodysuit was cut out and prepped for them. That way, when they arrived, they could jump into sewing ASAP. Also, lingerie takes up less space to cut. I was unsure if there would be enough room/time to cut out 9 bodysuits and still have time to sew. So glad I did because everyone finished around 4:30PM.

Ezza has become a regular student at my workshops. This was her fourth and she brought her sewing posse with her – Sally and Anita. Vivi from Atelie Basile also came with her friend Fern. With two groups of friends, it was a really fun class

Registration for fall classes are now open –  click here to sign up now! The next body suit workshop will be in October.

Hey Maddie! I love these paper weights. When I click on the link it goes somewhere odd. Could you show me where to find them please? <3
