VIDEO: The Making of a Madalynne Lingerie Kit
What goes inside every Madalynne lingerie sewing kit? Fabric, lining, elastics, hook + eye, and lots and lots of love.
Here’s the thing about the specially branded Madalynne boxes – I worked a corporate gig for Anthropologie for close to 8 years. Through their stores, really their store employees, they were able to connect with their customers – who they call “her.” It was important for them to have this connection in order to “delight her” in ways different from other retailers. A way that would keep her coming back. I believe that philosophy.
See, I don’t have a storefront, but I still want that connection. I remember walking into an Anthropologie store when I was probably 13 years old and being taken aback. “Wow!” It was the reason I kept coming back and eventually worked for them. Truly, it was an incredible experience – my dream job! – that a part of me didn’t want to leave. So, instead of throwing lace, elastics, and all that other jazz that goes into a DIY lingerie sewing project, I wanted to create an “intimate” box so I could make an impression… a connection… with you. It’s that same connection that I make with students at my bra making workshops. It’s that same connection that truly fulfills me and keeps me hustling through this extremely competitive retail environment.
With that said, here’s a quick video showing how each and every box is put together.

You have a very interesting business! Bras are especially personal. I can really appreciate the customization for individual comfort and fit. I’m not much for sexy fancy, mainly because I value comfort! Cotton bras that support and are comfortable are IMPOSSIBLE to find. I love the idea of making my own,
I’ve been sewing off and on for decades, but I’ve never made a bra. Do you have a kit for a cotton no underwire bra? How do you address sizes?
First step for me is to get a serger. All these years and no serger!

Thank you and I couldn’t agree more! Bras are very, very personal.
