Washing Lingerie: How to wash finished bras + panties, and how to sew a mesh lingerie wash bag with PFAFF® performance icon

Washing Lingerie: How to wash finished bras + panties, and how to sew a mesh lingerie wash bag with PFAFF® performance icon

I think it’s a misconception that washing your intimates is difficult. What’s so hard about filling up a tub or a sink and letting bra, bralettes and undies soak for 30 minutes? How long does it take to throw your intimates into a washing machine, put detergent in, and press the start button (I always hang to dry though – the dryer is the ultimate sin and where most of the damage occurs.). We wear the heck out of our underoos – they deserve some TLC! when I’m a good girl and make a pile throughout the week and take the time to wash them “correctly”, it does feel good. Like I’m not contributing to an early death. You can quote me, lingerie CAN last more than the 6 months if you care for them properly. Below, I walk through the steps of how to hand and machine wash lingerie and provide a full sew along for how to sew a mesh lingerie bag using PFAFF® performance icon™

Are you in the market for a new sewing machine? In partnership with a local sewing dealer, Madalynne offers a range of PFAFF® sewing machines. Fill out this contact form to get more info regarding available models, price, warranties, etc.

Hand Washing
1. Fill up a sink, tub or bathtub with tepid water. As water is running, add lingerie detergent such as this one.
2. Put your intimates into the sink or tub. Leave enough room to “swoosh” them around.
3. Let your bras soak for 30 minutes.
4. Hang or lay flat to dry. You can hang over a shower curtain, hang on a hanger, or lay them on a towel.

Machine Washing
1. Add lingerie detergent
2. Put your intimates into the washer, preferably in a mesh bag like the one made in the sew along.
3. Use a delicate washing cycle.
4. Hang or lay flat to dry just as in hand washing, step 4.
