Paris Fabric Shopping Guide + My Trip To Paris

The City of Lights is home to the top luxury brands and the chicest fashion + shopping in the world, but what about fabric? Does it deserve to be on your bucket list? In just one day, I hit up as many fabric stores as I could and can say, they did not disappoint! I only purchased 3 meters of one fabric – I don’t have a stash and buy what I need NOW for personal sewing projects. If you’re heading to Paris and want know my top spots for fabric shopping, read below. I also included some other places that any fashion or sewing enthusiast might enjoy.

Also to note is that this guide does not include recommendations for bra making supplies because unfortunately, I didn’t find any. Sigh! When I asked shop owners why, they said DIY lingerie wasn’t big there. Yes, I told them about Madalynne Intimates, but until our patterns are translated into French, it would be a hard sell there. Note to self: need to find someone to translate STAT. 

Montmarte: The main hub of fabric stores that offers everything from 3m discounted coupons to exclusive and super expensive beaded chiffons. There’s something for everyone here.

March Saint-Pierre (2 Rue Charles Nodier, 75018) A massive 5-story store that had the widest range of fabrics in Montmarte

Les Coupons Saint-Pierre (1 Place Saint-Pierre, 75018) They stock a lot of denim, cottons, silks, linens and viscose. It was the most reasonably priced, and all fabrics were 3m coupons.

Tissus Reine (3-5 Pl. Saint-Pierre, 75018) Also reasonably priced with a wide range of fabrics – chambrays, cottons and viscose. They also had Liberty fabrics and 100% silk satins.

Frou Frou (6 Rue Livingstone, 75018) Sells trims, sewing kits, Liberty-style fabrics, patterns, gifts and a huge selection of buttons. More for quilting and crafting than fashion sewing, but they did have a small assortment of dressmaking fabrics outside.

Sacre Coupons (4bis Rue dOrsel, 75018) Two stores right next to each other. The first shop has dressmaking fabrics, leather, full hides of various colors, thicknesses and finishes. The shop next door sells mainly coupons but also has some wools and corduroys on the roll. This is where I purchased my fabric.

Sentier: The other main fabric shopping area, but it is geared towards students and industry professionals. You’ll also find shops selling ex-designer and haute-couture fabrics (some will have a 3m minimum purchase).

General Diff (44 Rue de Clry, 75002) Stocks all haute couture fabrics, some coupons and coatings.

Boutique Legeron (20 Rue des Petits Champs, 75002) Sells handmade flowers for couture houses.

Lil Weasel (1-4 Passage du Grand Cerf, 75002) Two shops next to each other. One sells patterns from designers such as Republique Du Chiffon as well as bias bindings and fabrics from Atelier Brunette, France Duval Stalla and Liberty.

La Droguerie (56 Rue des Rosiers, 75004) Sells beads, buttons, piping, bindings, trimmings, and wool. Focuses more on DIY jewelry and knitting than sewing.

Hamon (54 Rue de Clry, 75002) Sewing and tailoring supplies.

Maison Sajou (47, rue du Caire, 75002). Gorgeous embroideries plus vintage items such as scissors, thread and pins

  Other recommendations + resources: I was in town for a total of four days. Two of the days, I attended a lingerie trade show, and the other two days, I shopped for fabric, vintage clothes, jewelry, lingerie, and croissants (lol). If you’re interested in any of the other places (read: non fabric stores) I went to and recommend, read below.

Hôtel Caron de Beaumarchais Paris Marais(12 Rue Vieille-du-Temple, 75004) Where I stayed and the.cutest.hotel. I will probably stay here every time I come to Paris. It’s in the heart of Le Marais, reasonably priced, and serves a bountiful breakfast for just 13 euros (coffee, croissants, bread, yogurt, eggs, jam and more!).

Palais Galliera (10 Av. Pierre 1er de Serbie) The Palais Galliera, also formally known as the Musée de la Mode de la Ville de Paris, and formerly known as Musée Galliera, is a museum of fashion and fashion history.

Little Red Door (60 Rue Charlot, 75003) After a full day galavanting the city, enjoy an array of creative, inventively presented cocktails at this acclaimed bar.

Les Nereides (multiple locations) If you’re into costume jewelry, check out this French brand. Its one of my favs and I always spend too much on their kitschy and quirky designs.

RIANNA + NINA Store (Pl. du Palais Royal, 34 Rue de Montpensier, 75001) RIANNA + NINA is a luxury label offers extraordinary one-of-a-kind designs with expert craftsmanship, colorful prints and a quality of detail that is beyond compare. You may not be able to afford anything here, but it’s definitely worth a stop.

Un Amour de Lingerie (80 Rue Montmartre, 75002) As a lingerie enthusiast, okay addict, this was my favorite lingerie store in Paris. They stock cute, sexy and everyday lingerie and swimwear up to a G cup (maybe larger). The owner is incredibly helpful and knows her stock. She seemed a bit upfront at first, she is still very nice. She may recommend pieces that you don’t wouldn’t normally try, but take trust her. She won’t disappoint.
