A Stitch Closer to a Cure: Mother’s Day Lingerie Event for Breast Cancer

From 1-4:00pPM, over 20 people – some old sewing friends who hailed from Washington D.C. (shout out to Lauren + Dayo!) and some new, local folks from Philly – came to Madalynne Studios to raise money for breastcancer.org, donate old/unused bras to The Bra Recyclers, drink Gin, Champagne, and Belvoir cocktails and sangria out of my newest wine/bar cart/cabinet (side note – thinking about making it a regular occurrence at Bra Making with Madalynne), shop Madalynne Intimates DIY lingerie kits as well as RTW lingerie, eat a DELICIOUS cake, quiche and sandwiches, test out PFAFF’s awesome line up of sewing machines, get their make up done, and just have a good time. It was the best day. All I have to say is mom, I hope I made ya proud ; )
5% of sales from the day were donated to breastcancer.org. Combined with the donations that were collected on Madalynne’s Facebook page and my own personal FB, $260 was raised. Considering it was an “intimate” event of appoximately 20 people, I think that’s great! Also, a handful of old/lightly worn bras (6) will go to The Bra Recyclers this week. A HUGE thank you to all the sponsors who donated for an epic giveaway!
